Modern Desert Living Near Piestewa Peak

This home sat untouched for decades - a maze of low ceilings, heavy finishes, and dim corners that had lost all sense of place. But beneath the Saltillo tile floors and dingy carpet , there was potential.

The goal? Honor the home’s original footprint while reshaping it for modern living in the Sonoran desert. We opened up the layout, brought in natural light, and layered in timeless materials: neutral tile, warm oak, and natural stone.
Every choice - from the custom cabinetry to the hidden under cabinet outlets - was designed to bring clarity and calm to a once cluttered space. What was dated and closed-in is now light-filled and grounded. A fresh start, rooted in intention.

Opening up the layout allowed the kitchen and dining room to breathe and connect with the rest of the home. A mix of organic materials and clean lines keeps it grounded in the desert while feeling completely modern. The full height quartzite backsplash is the star of the kitchen - and I hid the outlets underneath the cabinets to keep it completely seamless.

Layered neutrals, natural textures, and low contrast create a primary bedroom space that feels soft from the moment you step in. With natural light pouring in from outside, this room was designed to be both minimal and warm; it’s a quiet exhale at the end of the day.
